Engineering GeophysicsMineshaft LocationThe survey of a former colliery site in South Wales involved the use of reconnaissance geophysical techniques to investigate the location of former structures and mineshafts. The quadrature phase of the ground conductivity mapping provided information concerning former buildings, foundations and services while the inphase component measurements were used to locate a number of buried, capped mineshafts.
Service LocationThe proposed refurbishment of a number of blocks of flats in London required the existing services to be accurately located to ensure that any excavations could be carried out safely. A combination of methods including ground penetrating radar, electromagnetic service location devices and visual inspection were used to create service/utility location plans.
