Landfill Investigations

Details concerning the lateral extent and depth of waste materials buried within a previous quarry site in Scotland were required.   A multi-disciplinary geophysical survey was carried out which involved the microgravity field mapping of the site.  This allowed computer modelling exercises to be carried out to establish the apparent infilled quarry dimensions.

Location of Underground Storage Tanks

The proposed redevelopment of a former MoD site in the Midlands required detailed information concerning the precise location and numbers of disused underground fuel storage tanks to be obtained.  Existing documentation showed a number of separate fuel farm locations within the large site, however, exact details of the number and size of individual tanks was unavailable.  The typical radar profile below shows strong curved reflections from fuel tanks, clearly indicating their subsurface position.
