Measurement of Clay Thickness

Proposals to construct irrigation water reservoirs at sites in Norfolk required the depths of boulder clay overlying chalk to be determined.   This was to ensure that penetration of this layer would not lead to dissolution features of the chalk.  By using ground resistivity imaging methods a series of 2-D geoelectric sections were produced to indicate subsurface material lithology.

Pipeline Route Investigation

A site investigation along a proposed pipeline route in North Wales involved the extensive use of geophysical methods to assist in establishing the ground conditions.  One of the techniques utilised was inductive ground conductivity profiling to provide information concerning the location of mineral veins within the shallow bedrock.  The portable Geonics EM34 device was used for this purpose.
