Concrete Investigations Reinforcement AssessmentThe appearance of cracking within a reinforced concrete ground slab at a vehicle loading yard in Southern England raised questions about the adequacy of the reinforcement within the slab. A ground penetrating radar system was used to investigate the entire area of ground slab to determine areas where the reinforcement had been omitted during construction
Foundation InvestigationsThe need to increase the loading on a warehouse floor slab meant that details of the concrete ground slab construction and building foundations were required. This was especially the case as the structure was believed to have been constructed over disused World War II air raid shelters. A ground penetrating radar survey was carried out to obtain this information and to locate these shelters. This allowed the distribution of storage racking to be designed to avoid any unacceptable loading of these underground structures.
